Simplicity Redefined: Area Resort 2024 Collection

Area’s Piotrek Panszczyk sought the mundane essentials for the resort collection, aiming to play with simplicity in a fresh manner. Exploring from Milan, where he now manages Area’s production, Panszczyk redefined “simplicity” with a collection full of polka dots inspired by Pop Art and Roy Lichtenstein, experimenting extensively with treatments and fabrics.

Tech gabardine brought life to easy bustiers and relaxed motorcycle jackets, featuring “heat-affixed” polka dots that added intriguing texture, especially in butter yellow. The lookbook, presented in black and white, showcases the popular yellow along with a brilliant red. A back-to-basics approach is embodied in a jersey boxy shift dress with a deep rounded rectangular back cutout.

While embracing simplicity, some pieces in the collection lean into maximalism. Leather pieces, including spaghetti strap tops, miniskirts, and minidresses, are adorned with star-shaped insets and hand-embroidered cabochons. Notable among them is the black and white polka dot-and-star print tweed, highlighted in a strapless column dress with a matching bolero jacket, both adorned with oversized gold and diamanté buttons. Panszczyk notes the resonance of this graphic style in the “see now/buy now” model, expressing that people are truly drawn to its referential yet modern feel.
