Beyond the Screen: Antonela Fredianelli Interview

by Jorgelina Escalante

Antonela, you’ve come a long way from your beginnings in Rosario to becoming a prominent TV host in Miami. How did your early experiences in Argentina shape your career in the international media scene?
Growing up in Rosario, I was always surrounded by a vibrant culture and passionate people, which deeply influenced my outlook on life. My early experiences in Argentina, particularly in Buenos Aires where I studied, taught me the importance of resilience and hard work. These qualities were essential when I moved to Miami and started navigating the international media scene. My roots in Argentina keep me grounded, and they give me a unique perspective that I bring to all my work here in the U.S.

You wear many hats—TV host, model, actress, and more. How do you balance these roles, and is there one that you feel particularly connected to?
Balancing these roles can be challenging, but they all contribute to who I am professionally. If I had to choose, I’d say hosting is where I feel most at home. It allows me to engage directly with people, whether it’s a live audience or viewers at home. The immediacy and connection you get as a host are unparalleled. However, modeling and acting also fulfill different creative needs and allow me to express myself in unique ways.

How did it feel to cover Messi’s arrival in Miami and his debut with Inter Miami, knowing you both come from Rosario? What kind of personal significance did reporting on such a landmark moment hold for you?
Covering Messi’s arrival was truly special for me, not just as
a journalist but as someone who shares the same hometown. Rosario is a place of immense pride, and seeing Messi, a fellow Rosarino, make such an impact in Miami was emotional. It felt like a piece of home was being celebrated on a global stage, and I was thrilled to be part of that moment, sharing it with viewers who might not fully grasp what it means for us.

You’ve worked as a model and actress on Telemundo in popular novelas like ‘Betty en NY’ and ‘La Mujer de mi Vida.’ How do these experiences in front of the camera influence your work as a TV host?
My time on Telemundo’s novelas was invaluable. Acting and modeling taught me how to connect with the audience on a deeper level, using not just words but also presence and emotion. This experience has been incredibly beneficial in my role as a TV host, where being relatable and engaging is key. I learned how to command attention and communicate effectively, skills that are crucial whether I’m reporting on a live event or interviewing a guest.

Antonela, you had the opportunity to cover President Javier Milei’s tour of the USA for La Nación +. What was it like to report on such a significant international event?
Covering President Javier Milei’s tour was an extraordinary experience. Reporting on a sitting president’s international visit requires a deep understanding of both the political context and
the significance of the events. It was particularly fascinating to see how President Milei was received in the United States and to document the interactions he had, especially with prominent figures like Elon Musk. It was a moment of great pride for Argentina, and I felt honored to bring that story to our viewers.

How did you prepare for the coverage of such a politically charged and high-stakes event?
Preparation was key for this coverage. I spent a lot of time re-searching President Milei’s policies, his previous engagements, and the broader context of Argentina’s relationship with the U.S. I also familiarized myself with Elon Musk’s recent ventures and public statements to understand the potential implications of their meeting. Being well-prepared allowed me to ask insightful questions and provide viewers with a comprehensive understanding of the events as they unfolded.

Spring Break in Miami is a major cultural event, often unpredictable and full of energy. What was your strategy for covering such a dynamic and sometimes chaotic event?
Spring Break is definitely one of the most lively events to cover! My strategy was to embrace the energy while ensuring that I delivered insightful coverage. It’s not just about capturing the parties but also understanding the cultural and economic impact of the event on Miami. I aimed to show the audience both the excitement and the logistics behind managing such a massive influx of people. Staying adaptable and ready for anything was key to capturing the full spectrum of the event.

Fashion seems to be a significant part of your identity, both personally and professionally. How does your love for fashion influence your work across different media platforms?
Fashion is an essential part of who I am, and it’s something I incorporate into all aspects of my work. Whether I’m on the red carpet or hosting a show, I see fashion as a way to express myself and connect with my audience. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about conveying a sense of confidence and style that resonates with people. My background in modeling has also given me a keen eye for detail, which helps me in curating my on-screen presence and ensuring that it aligns with the tone and message of the program.

You’ve been offered hosting roles on highly recognized national TV channels and U.S. programs. What criteria do you use to decide which opportunities to pursue?
I’m very selective about the projects I take on. First and foremost, the content has to resonate with me personally. I want
to be part of shows that align with my values and interests, whether it’s in lifestyle, fashion, or social issues. I also consider the impact of the show—does it have the potential to inspire, educate, or entertain in a meaningful way? Finally, I look at the team behind the project. Collaboration is key, and I want to work with people who share my vision and passion for excellence.

Having worked with some of the most recognized figures in entertainment and sports, like Wanda Nara and Sebastián Abreu, how do you maintain your authenticity while engaging with such influential personalities?
Authenticity is everything to me. When engaging with influential personalities, I focus on being myself and approaching them with genuine curiosity. It’s about finding common ground and making them feel comfortable enough to open up. My goal is always to uncover the person behind the public image, and I believe that can only be achieved by staying true to who I am and what I represent. I think this approach has helped me build trust with my guests and, in turn, with my audience.

Finally, what’s next for Antonela Fredianelli? Any upcoming projects or goals you’re working toward?
I’m always looking ahead, and there are several projects in the pipeline that I’m incredibly excited about. One of my main goals is to launch a new show that blends my love for fashion, lifestyle, and in-depth interviews. I also want to continue expanding my reach across Latin America and beyond, bringing fresh and original content to new audiences. The journey is just beginning, and I’m thrilled to see where it takes me next.
