Beyond the Screen: Interview with Actor Lion Bagnis.

“I like to take risks – classic, but always with a disruptive touch.”

Where are you from and what path led you to this moment?

I was born in Rosario, Argentina, and now I’m living in beautiful Mexico City.
It took many moves to get here haha. I went through Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Miami, and of course Mexico… But I don’t regret anything at allll.

Although you are an actor by profession, today many talents diversify with a presence on social media, YouTube, etc. How is it in your case?

That’s right, my vocation and great love are the dramatic arts. But I think it’s great to have other platforms to express yourself and connect with your community, being yourself—without characters in between. You can also share other personal interests, like in this case, my love for editorials and fashion.

Which project has given you the most satisfaction in your career?

I’m going to sound very neutral with this answer, but in my case, the most satisfying project has always been the latest one I’ve
worked on.
Every year that passes, I learn to rest more between projects, which allows me to enjoy what I do even more. Maturity and experience will always give you that added value in every experience you have.

You’ve just participated in Harvey Keitel’s latest film, THE LETTER. Tell us about your experience.

In a few words, it was crazy.
I was filming a very demanding comedy project in Mexico when the casting for THE LETTER came in. It found me a bit exhaus-
ted and resistant, I won’t lie…
Acting in another language and sharing a scene with Harvey Keitel??? Master Harvey??? Not even in my wildest dreams could that be possible for a kid from the provinces like me… no way.
Thank God I had a little bit of faith in the middle of all that mental noise and I dared to do it. And yes… I got it… and I was able to work with one of my idols! Harvey is a great artist and an amazing guy. He was a wonderful
scene partner.

What is your connection to fashion?

I’ve always been very curious about aesthetics, about everything
fantastical and performative…
In fashion, I was able to find a lot of that.
Every garment carries a different energy and tells you something…
Far from chasing trends, fashion is, for me, a great space for self-expression.

In relation to your appearance and image… do you have
a defined style or do you like to change?

Like a good Pisces, I like to go with whatever mood I’m in hahaha… with whatever stage I’m going through…
I like the classic, but always with a disruptive touch—something
that breaks what’s imposed… something that feels special and… also fancy, why not?
I like to take risks.

In what way do you consider yourself “vanguardist”?

I feel avant-garde in the way I think, feel, and love… in how I am moving through this life.
I question everything and I always go a bit deeper with whatever matters to me.
I defend my values and beliefs at all costs.
This translates into every aspect of my life, from how I look to how
I protect everything I love.
Proud to nurture “being that different guy”… that guy who was ahead of the environment in which he grew up.
